Franken -'I sorta Belong Here' 2 coats w/ 1 coat clear & 1 coat Nailene T.C.
MIDDLE - No T.C.

So when I wear my frankens now - I apply a coat of CLEAR polish that I have reserved especially for frankens = before I apply my final T.C. This way I don't contaminate my Top Coat. This is 2 coats of my Franken, 'I sorta Belong Here' with 1 coat of clear polish and 1 coat Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat. I left my middle finger free of Top Coat. I made this franken with a bit of Nat Robbin's 'Greed' and some older Revlon eyeshadow, an awesome duo-chrome eggplant. I had hoped to retain some of the green color of the base polish I used, but I think I added way, waaaaaaay too much of the e/s. I like it, and will likely wear this again soon.

I love the finish of eye-shadow frankens..... I don't think I have made one yet that I did not like.

♥ Franken - 'Shenanigans' ♥

Dang - as soon as I applied T.C. to the last nail, I banged my middle finger into my desk top - nothing some glitter or nail art cant fix. I made this franken with a base of Nat Robbin's 'Greed' and some white body shimmer and a few drops of a black glossy polish. It turned out awesome and exactly the shade of green I hoped for.

All my frankens made with this white body shimmer; which is an old, oooold Caboodles body shimmer I scored for .50 cents at an awesome bargain store in my town, usually end up having an easy to work with formula. I have found using an already colored polish, instead of clear, I manage to make frankens that apply alot better and do not separate as drastically, then those made with just clear polish. Some frankens I have made with clear are very difficult to shake and mix up after they have been sitting around for a few months. So when those sheer or buff french manicure-type shades of polish are in a bargain bin for .50 cents = snap them up, they make great frankens!

♥ Franken - 'Lucky Lucy' ♥

Here is a pretty pastel green franken polish I made with Nat Robbin's Greed and a pure white polish. I love this on it's own but I had to add something to it - simple easy nail art using french tip guides, a Nailene black french tip pen and one of my favorites = Pure Ice 'Oh Baby'.  I also added some cute Nailene Nail Stickers to my ring finger.


I named this polish after Lucy - a lovely blog commenter who is very busy playing 'farm-ville' or another FB game I hear. Those FB games are addictive!

♥ Franken - 'Wild Olive' ♥

'Wild Olive' Franken 2 oats & 2 coats of Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat

woooooooow! This is a stunner - I just returned from the mall and two people stopped me to ask about my polish - It's always interesting when I say ' Oh I made this - Its a franken - polish' - and they go "Wut?" and I explain what a franken polish is. This is a cheerful celery green, I made this using Nat Robbin's 'Greed' as a base, then added some older Loreal eyeshadow 'Soft Fern' and a small amount of an older caboodle polish 'Wild Child'. I am very happy with this one, and plan on some nail art later in the day.

♥ Franken 'Curtains' ♥

I added some Nat Robin's 'Greed' polish to a small empty polish bottle and then  added some old, oooooold eyeshadow I had sitting around, a very pretty Revlon eggplant duo-chrome, and this is how it turned out. I was hoping for alot more of a purple 'flash' but I cannot complain, because I can see tiny microscopic ( not really but you know.... ) prismatic shimmery bits and it looks so cool! = I am very happy with this one, happy with the color and finish.

The 3 thin coats were easy to apply and dried perfectly. On the second day of wear topped this with 2 coats of Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat. I had planned to swatch this, photograph it and then take it off and move onto the next franken polish I had made, but I ended up really liking this and wore it all weekend even though it faded w/o T.C.. At the moment I am doing some simple easy nail art with this mani and will post when my camera battery charges up.

♥ Nat Robbin's - 'Phantom' ♥

 

Nat Robbin's 'Phantom' 4 coats and 2 coats of  Nailene Top Coat

Where in the 'F' did that piece of fluff come from? I swear to gosh, that was not there when I was taking photos!!!! Anyhoo- here is a very lovely polish Nat Robbin's 'Phantom' 4 coats and 2 coats of  Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat. I guess this would be a shimmer with a strong flash.....I took some photos with extremely crappy lighting, just for funz..........I call it 'gloomy window' lighting.

This polish was extremely thin, and I want to leave the bottle open in a window or outdoors for a few hours so it will thicken up, but it is waaaaaaaay to cold to do so right now I am pretty sure it will freeze.. I did have some bare spots with my application -  but I barely noticed them becuase I was enchanted by the super-strong violet flash in this pretty light chocolate polish.

I picked this up at a bargain store in my town. Nat Robbin's polish's are discontinued, but the three I grabbed were really nice. I love polish's that have a strong flash like this. it's such an odd pairing, chocolaty brown with violet..... = I like it and I think that these types of color combos are really special ♥

♥ Chocolate Watermelon ♥

 

- HAPPY VALENTINES DAY -

I wouldnt say that this is a very Valentine-like Mani, but I didn't expect to be able to post anything for a few more days. My computer issues are all sorted out and I am very very greatful that I can take photos and update my blog.

Here is the lovely Billie scented polish 'Watermelon' - 3 coats, and on my ring is the gorgeous Nat Robbins 'Phantom ' an extremely cool brown based polish with violet flash = I am doing a full Mani with this tonite. I picked this neat polish up at a dollar store in my town, HERE is the full post for those beauties.

This polish required 4 coats, sadly. I initially thought I could get away with just 2 if I layered it over a buff opaque polish as I had seen a great post on this technique over at The Manicured Manitee, but I still needed 4 coats to cover and vnl. Luckiily it dired fast and it lasted overnight with no sheet marks. I smartly added 2 coats of Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat, and that saved me from having waffle nails.

Here is another post where I wore this pretty pink polish, Billie scented polish 'Watermelon' in the summertime. Even with T.C. I can still smell the watermelon scent, and its been 16 hours. I was eating pretzels and they overpowered the pretzels..... kinda ruined my snack time.....

Anyhoo- here is a few photos, all indoors under fluorescent lighting. The color accuracy, tone.... blah, blah, blah, is out of my hands. I'm gratefully working on a different computer and I don't quite have the hang of editing and such yet.

Here is a close-up of the very edge of my nails......on my middle finger ( black tip) i have applied the nailenen french tip pen to the very edge, and will apply a good amount of Top coat the the very edge and underneath my nail as well. You can see the bare edge of my ring finger ( brown) where i had not carried the polish 'Phantom' over the edge.
