new blogs & Sinful Colors Aruba Rhythm

Sinful Colors Aruba Rhythm, 2 coats layered over 2 coats of Sally Hansen Grey Area - no top coat

This polish has a strong flash, from Grey/lilac to green/gold = there are  few Sinful Color polish's with this property. I know these are on sale in the USA at Wall-greens or CVS this week for $.99 cents, but apparently some of The Bargain Stores in Canada have a tray or two of Sinful Color Polish's.  I will do a better swatch of this comparing it to Sally Hansen Emerald Amethyst & put a request on MUA for duo-chrome's or polish's with strong Flash from Sinful Colors.

The only down-side to some of the polish's available from sinful colors is that some are sheer. I prefer to layer everything so it is not a problem for me. The brush was a little stiff on this one - but top coat would fix that up.

Any notable Sinful Colors with properties like this, duo-chromey, or ones with strong flash - let me know. Personally I would purchase them all - for .99 cents to $1.50 each they are worth it!

..... and new blogs! (Late again lol)

Pure Ice Rio, {more layering}

2 coats of Pure Ice Rio layered over 2 thin coats of Claire's Matte Green

When I did my My Favorite Polish's post I had every Pure Ice Polish I have worn on there, but no photos, and I made a note to work on wearing those polish's. Pure Ice is an American polish Exclusive to Walmart USA, {they do have a website where you can order from}.

The entire collection is very wearable, there doesn't seem to be any negative buzz on the formula or colours either. I wish we had these in Canada! Is there any dud's in the current Pure Ice collection?

Anyhoo- this is Pure Ice Rio, which is a raspberry jelly base with mesmerizing flecks of ......flecks that flash blue, green purple and white-ish silver. I layered it over a medium green. I am pretty sure layering this over anything would be beautiful.

Claire's Poison Apple

Claire's Poison Apple, 3 thin coats with 1 coat of Nailene TC layered over a golden chrome polish. I feel a little disappointed with this polish, even though it is very pretty, I wish it did not have the boring base colour it does. In some lighting it looks like a run-of-the-mill mulberry/red shade. In many lighting conditions the golden/copper duo-chrome flakes look fabulous.

This polish; Claire`s Candy Apple, as well as Claire`s Venomous dried very fast. The effect in both of these polish's is very pretty & I recommend layering them over an opaque base.

For underware I chose Sally hansen Chrome in Gilded Pearl Chrome. This had no effect at all on the final colour and finish of Claire's Candy Apple, I just wanted to reduce the appearance of bare spots and the amount of coats of Candy Apple that I would use. The photo below is 2 coats with NO TC.

Here is Claire`s Candy Apple, layered over Sally Hansen Gilded Pearl Chrome. My thumb is 1 thick coat, the rest of my nails are 1 coat each of varying thickness.... the only photo I have to show the transparency of Poison Apple.

These next two photos are interesting, its amazing that this is even the same polish! The one immediately below is a photo directly under my light source.....

Excellence in Layering, Pure Ice Oh Baby layered over Wet n' Wild Disturbia

This is sooooooooo pretty, Pure Ice Oh baby is a lovely, lovely polish. This is 3 thin coats layered over Wet n Wild Disturbia. No TC. I love these flecked duo-chrome polish's from Pure Ice- there are several sparsely flecked Duo-Chromes such a s Rio, Oh Baby and another jelly-ish blue one  (Heart-Breaker, maybe).

And of course |I cant talk about department store fleck-ey duo-chromes without mentioning N.Y.C. Love Letters, if you don't have that YOU NEED IT ASAP!

below; NYC Love Letters
From N.Y.C. POLISH

Here is a few more pic's, this is really really pretty and I think I may add another coat of the Pure Ice Oh baby.

Claire's Venomous

Claire's Venomous, 3 coats layered over 2 coats of Claire's Matte Cobalt with 2 coats of Nailene TC. Ring Nail is 3 or 4 coats of Claire's Venomous ( I forgot how many coats....oops! )

Claire's Venomous is a lovely fleck-duo-chrome with a jelly teal base. I meant to layer this over a teal or green polish but for some-reason I applied this over a dark blue polish.... The base on this is a teal, so I thought it would really look its best layered over a teal... next time lol.

I picked up Candy Apply, and left behind Evil Queen, because it sorta looked like and random dark purple with Pure Ice Bused layered over it. I have already painted my nails with a dark purple and pure ice busted and its drying as I type this.
I HATE buying Claire's polish if it isn't on the 10 for $10 rack or not at half price ( it is reg $5.75 CAD ) even at BOGO it is still over priced.

any-hoo Here is a few ore photos for you - no sunshine unfortunately, but this type of duo-chrome polish does it's best work under crappy lighting conditions anyway. I ♥ duo-chromes!

TOP nail is 3 or 4 coats of Claire's Venomous

ALSO: I found some of those micro-beads at the Dollar-Rama ( Canada), They are a small portion in a tiny bottle - it should be interesting to see what I can some up with for nail art with these...... ( there soooooo cute!  look @ those lil' corks!!!)

these next 2 photos are enlargeable - the first & second on the left are soooooooo pretty!

I layered Claire's Venomous over a 2 coats of dark blue polish. My ring nail is Claire's Venomous @ 1 coat... this is really sheer and I initially meant to layer Venomous over a green/teal polish.

Sinful Colors Just You Wait.....

and wait I did! almost 10 months after seeing this fabulous duo-chrome polish on Mary's Blog, Body and Soul - I have it! I found this in Canada at London Drugs, it was a surprise to see the Sinful Colors polish's collection here in Canada. So far they only have the boring, work appropriate shades, none of the funky bright polish's that can be found at Walgreen's USA or on-line at Cherry culture and the Sinful Colors website.

I really really wanted this polish - and now I have it. It is a fabulous STRONG duo-chrome that ranks right up with the older Sally Hansen Duo-Chrome Nail Prisms, too bad it's all gloomy and cloudy outside.  Indoors the duo-chrome is apparent, but it shows more of a flashy evergreen, with a slight tinge of golden shimmer.

I have layered 1 coat of Sinful Colors Just You wait over my previous mani, NYC Canal Street, I added 2 outdoor pic's of that must have polish as well in this post. While these photos under cloudy skies do not showcase the gorgeous green to burgundy to purple to gold duo-chrome, the effect is still visible. This is another must have.

It looks so boring the bottle, what a surprise! My next American acquisition will be Love My Nails Dazzling -  it is soooooo pretty, and only .99 cents ( seriously! ) If you have a chance to check out the Walmart USA website, there is fabulous photos of most of the LOVE My Nails polish's ( do not pick a location on the walmart website, just type in love my nails..... or it doesn't show up for some reason )

I am puzzled that there is so many in-expensive and friggen awesome polish's out there that rarely end up on blogs, I'm talking more about polish available in the USA that are in-expensive and can be found easily at Walmarts or other department stores and drug-stores. I'm just one girl from Canada, so I am calling out USA polish lovers go model those cheap, readily available polish's that are often overlooked. there has been more 'coverage' of these in recent months, but if you happen to have any shades that are spectacular or that need to be known about, I hope that more people will blog about those.

♥ I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Years Eve ♥

♥ S.H. Insta-Dri 'Grape Going' ♥

3 thin coats of Sally Hansen Insta Dri Grape Going. No Top Coat.

What a lovely colour. I love this pretty purple shade with prominent blue iridescent shimmer that can be seen in most lighting conditions. It's supposed to be 'Insta-Dri' but I found it took a long timer to dry. This also needs at least 4 coats to hide any bald spots = it is very sheer. I think this will be great as a layering polish, but I am a little disappointed that it this sheer.

On another note, can you imagine creating a polish colour so awesome, that another world famous polish company copies it? That would be a thrill! I'll have to put some thought into what type of polish I would make ... if I could, probably something very similar to the older S.H. Nail Prisms something that dry's fast and has the same formula as the older Nail Prisms = but a shimmery Chocolate brown with Orange and Red duo-chrome-i-ness and Flash.  So, I suppose it would just like Nail Prisms Garnet Lapis, but Chocolaty Brown, With a strong Orange/ Red Flash, but also has alot of shimmery iridescence to it. OR, Like that Nat Robbins Polish I modeled a few months ago, 'Phantom', same shade of Brown just much more opaque and instead of the blurple flash it would be a strong Orange/Reddish Flash & Iridescence. I have seen a polish sorta like this on the blogs recently, but can't remember where.....

If you could make your 'Dream' polish what would it be? or does it exist already.

Back to this polish. The iridescence in this is strong, it completely eclipses the subtle duo-chrome and it is extremely noticeable & beautiful. I did say I would never buy one of these Insta-Dri's again, but it truely is a lovely polish despite the slow drying time & sheerness which I had been warned about =  BUT I had to have it. ( on sale ~ of course ).

This is 3 thin coats, with no Top Coat -  I have a hankering to do some nail art, something easy and simple for this lovely Sunday Evening.....................
