AVON Bare Necessity and Midnight Plum

Hi everyone - here is a quickie post = I am experiencing some OMFG computer problems and it has killed my desire to be on the internet or even the computer all together ( all dramatic lol )

But ~  here are two lovely Avon Polished paired up in a gentle S-curve manicure.

I cut out the design template from mailing labels these seem to leave the least residue. I have tried to cut out shapes for designs from painters tape using scissors with little success, and using a utility knife is dangerous, so this is the way to go for me.

Both of these Avon Polish's are creme finishes. The apply wonderfully, dry fast and are richly pigmented.  I have recently acquired a few Avon polish's and can say with certainty that this line of Nail Wear Pro Polish is awesome.

3 thin coats of Avon Bare Necessity

when the base polish was dry I applied the 'S' shaped stickers that I cut out from mailing labels

and added 2 coats of Avon Midnight Plum

I removed the stickers and added a coat of Top Coat

.... and here are a few other 'S-Curve' manicures I have posted in the past

new blogs & a fun summery funky french

This is a simple easy nail look using one of my recent frankens- I Ain't Missing You, China Glaze For Audrey and Art Deco Teal/Green Glitter stripe polish. I applied 2 coats of my base colour, then free-hand added the chevron french tip with China Glaze for Audrey, then traced over the line where the two polish's meet with the Art Deco glitter stripe polish - doesn't get much easier than this!

I Ain't Missing You Franken

Here is a new franken I made with NYC East Village and a plain white creme.... this is paired with another franken that is made with the same polish's, just different quantities.

These are both cremes with subtle shimmer. The darker franken needs 2 coats for full coverage, while the lighter franken needs 3 or more..... it is sheer but they both dried fast because both polish's that I used to make these have a great fast drying formula.

I used my nifty pattern scissors to make this scalloped design, I cut them out of mailing labels

see the gooey bits left over.... that's because it is very humid inside right now.

Avon Jade and Olive Green camo mani

For this mani, I applied blobs of polish straight from the brush randomly over my nails and swirled then around with a dotting tool. When it was dry I applied a coat of ELF Twinkle Twinkle over my nails. Instead of a shiny finish I opted for a matte top coat, which I think suits this much better.

ELF Twinkle Twinkle has a weird chunky formula, and not in the good way -  it's like hair gel.....and it dries matte with alot of textured brush strokes and grainy-ness. It dries fast and has a pretty glitter finish, so those odd characteristics are forgivable.

Avon Jade and Avon Green Olive are the only 2 modern Avon polish's I have. They are fabulously opaque creme finish's and dependable 2 coaters. These are the American versions, the formula is awesome and they dry fast and VERY shiny.

Products used -  Avon Olive Green, Avon Jade and ELF Twinkle Twinkle.

Below; this close-up is not flattering..... you can really see the weird grainy/texturized finish of ELF Twinkle Twinkle.... I think that it needs a nice shiny top coat to mask that, other than that the glitter in it is very pretty, it's sparse enough that it can be layered over another polish without eclipsing whatever it is being layered over.

For my thumbs, I applied a thick-ish stripe of polish to each side of my nails, and dragged a dotting tool in between the colours. This is called 'Day to Night' Technique, ( that's what I call it now ) which I fist saw on You Tube by You Tuber May Paris. When it was dry  I applied Nailene TC to this, but I think that I was a little heavy-handed with the green as it took alot longer to dry and I got bubbles!

I have tried this a few times and I still have not perfected it, I sometimes have some bare spots -  these are visible towards the base of my nail.

China Glaze purple diagional mani

This is 3 thin coats of China Glaze Spontaneous with China Glaze Grape Juice. I applied a curved french mani tip-guide across my nails diagonally and added 2 coats of Grape Juice, when it was dry I applied a coat of Nailene Top Coat.

China Glaze Spontaneous, China Glaze Grape Juice and Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat

Below; I found these brushes at the dollar store.... The bright colours ones are for acetone clean-ups and applying moisturizer around my cuticles before painting my nails as I keep misplacing my black brushes.....  I haven't tried any nail art with these, If I do I will be using acrylic water based paint, there decent for a dollar store paint brush.

Wet n' Wild Lavender Creme with Icing Hazelnut / Icing un-named comparison

Here is a mani I did a few weeks ago but never posted for some reason, Wet n Wild Lavender Creme with a comparison of Icing Hazelnut and a mini un-named similar colour form an LE 5 set. There is a slight difference, very slight. The Icing mini polish has a tad more red to it.

Icing Hazelnut is a brown shimmery frost, that with careful thin coats does not leave alot of brush marks like many frosts do ( those nasty, nasty frosts)

Icing Hazelnut, un-named mini, Icing Hazelnut, un-named mini

I have to mention that I wore my last mani, Wet n Wild Teal of Fortune for 5 3/4 days! It is very very pretty. Luckily there is 6 versions of this very same nail polish available all over the world. I did find that it stained my fingers when I removed it, even though I applied moisturizer all over my hands and into my cuticles before removal..... just a heads up.

Below; 3 thin coats with TC - Wet n Wild Laveneder Creme is a bright fun pink, I had this for months and months before I even tried it. I really like it and have used it quite a bit in the last few weeks.

I love this diagonal mani look, its simple to do ~ but I can never get it to look as sharp just using the polish brush, I need these french tip guides. I even tried using a stripe polish to get a diagonal line, (and then fill it in of course) but they don't seem to come out even.

♥ S.H. Insta Dri - 'Mint Sprint' ♥

S.H. Insta Dri  Mint Sprint 2 coats wit 2 coats of Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat
Indoor Fluorescent Lighting

I imagined this would be a much lighter shade....but it is a 'dusty mint creme'. When I think of the colour mint = I think of the yummy minty center of an "After Eight" { they are white inside now - but they used to be light green }.  I want to call this polish shade a teal color, they could have made up a snazzy rhyme over at S.H. Headquarters..... maybe "Teal Deal" or "Teal Feel-ings" or " Teal...... Teal..... ummm something else that rhymes with Teal.

This applied perfectly and dried FAST, I am starting to warm up to these Insta Dri polish's, but I would reach for an X-treme wear before these Insta Dri's any day..... even though they have some fabulous colours in the Insta Dri collection.

I am seriously considering inventing some type of dust capturing nail polishing chamber. Some days I have no problems and other days I seal in 2 or more pieces of noticeable fluff and dust. Any tips? Because this is ridiculous.
