purple zebra stripes

I am still wearing those old skool Nial Fetish artificial nails, I added a coat of China Glaze Grape Juice which is a lovely light purple glass flecked polish, then painted zebra striped with the nail striping polish from Klean Color, then added a coat of Pure Ice Busted, a translucent lilac shade with gold purple and hot pink flecks of..... flecks.

I like that the Pure Ice polish smoothes out any wonky zebra stripes, I did a fast, careless polish job because this was my third try with nail art yesterday evening.... hopefully I'll get back on track.

.....and - I fixed my camera battery issue, I guess the little things were not connecting when I placed it in the battery charger - I was really worried about that! And also none of my photos have TC today its way easier to get a clear non-fuzzy photo without TC.

some purple under the sea nail art

 purple sea-weed?

The base is the same artificial nails I have been wearing all week, I used a striping brush for the Wet n' Wild Eggplant Frost 'sea-weed' then added a coat of clear polish and set deep purple hexagon glitter into the wet polish. Since I couldn't imagine spending the day without some shimmer I added Pure Ice Busted in the area towards the base of my nails.

Thankfully this beautiful purple hex glitter did not 'bleed' when clear polish or TC was added = I hate it when that happens, so now I tested all my glitter and made a note of whether it was polish friendly or not but putting a small amount on tin foil and then adding a drop of clear and a drop of top coat on top

I have a weird pattern with my nails art.... if I don't do anything fun and nail arty to my nails for a while - then start doing fun stuff, I fail at least 3 times before I do something I am satisfied with. Does this happen to anyone else? Also do camera batteries loose their ability to charge up fully? I'll have to Google that because the last few times I re-charged it not all the little bars showed up - which resulted in grey fuzzy photos.

Also - Wow! Wet n' Wild Eggplant Frost is a gorgeous polish!  I tried 3 different types of nail art today, 2 were fails and even though this was okay  ( for now ) I almost settled on a plain manicure of Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost.

Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost totally worth the $1.00 Walmart price tag

Avon Midnight Plum with Pure Ice Cheat'in

This is 3 coats Avon Midnight Plum, with a sponging of Billie Cosmetics in Alloy which is a lovely pink/purple metallic polish. I added 3 coats of Pure Ice Cheat'in  and a thick coat of Top Coat. For some reason I did not take photos of Avon Midnight Plum alone.....  I thought the glitter would be lost layered over Midnight Plum, so I decided to add the metallic polish for good contast.

I definitely needed 2 coats of TC to hide all the bumps from this glitter polish - Pure Ice Cheat'in is a lovely mix of sapphire blue and magenta glitter. Its a shame that I have only worn this polish 2 times since i bought it 3 years ago!!!!

Claire's Venomous, Poison Apple, Evil Queen

These 3 polish's from Claire's are supposed to be knock-off's of Mac's Venomous Villains collection, they have also been compared to some of the Orly Cosmic FX polish's. They are not as pretty as I thought they would be ~ I'm not complaining ~ I think all three are beautiful, but it is "the curse of me buying Claire's Polish's at full price" I usually wait for them to go on sale, but when I saw Poison apple and Venomous I bought them right away because I figured they would sell out fast   and right now there is a stack on the bargain rack at the Claire's store - this has happened like, 3 times!

This post is a few ways that I wore these 3 polish's. I though I should round all these mani's up and add them in one super post.

I thought the flecks would have alot more oomph, however every time I wore these 3 polish's, there was NO SUN!!!!! all 5 times!!!!! there was a window of 3 hours of sunshine when I wore Venomous the second time in a sponge mani (below)

This is 2 coats of an older Sally Hansen Color Fast polish Mocha Ice Frost, I first applied Claire's Venomous like a french manicure, then when it dried a little I sponged some more Venomous  to blend with my base polish. Claire's Venomous is a sheer green jelly base with flecks that shift from gold to a pretty purple/lilac/pink.

Some tiny pieces of the sponge broke off and are embedded into my polish. Next time I will cut the sponge I use apart - not rip it,

the colour shift in this polish is a pretty gold, to a muted pink/purple. The base is a swamp green jelly

normally ` the gif's I make are much more crisp and clear, don't know why it's so fuzzy

these photos are taken at a slightly different distance from the light source - a 1 inch difference

romantic lamp lighting

from a previous post; my ring nail is 3 or 4 coats of Claire's Venomous, while the rest of my nails are 3 coats layered over a dark blue polish

Here is a photo of Claire's Poison Apple. I haven't re-worn this but have it in my ' to wear' basket. The Polish-aholic did a lovely comparison of this and Mac's Bad Fairy.

Claire's Evil Queen

below is 3 coats of Rimmel Glam Goth, part of a limited edition of products that I found at the grocery store last winter. I am NOT A FAN OF LIMITED EDITION STUFF, so normally I woudn't purchase a polish that looks like a plain dark purple polish. BUT = this has the tinyest hot pink and sapphire blue micro-shimmer in it that is very unique, suspended in a black jelly base.

I layered 1 coat of Claire's Evil Queen, which has the same base shade as this Rimmel polish. Claire's Evil Queen is a dark purple jelly base with flecks of teal-ish ....flecks

This is 1 coat of Claire's Evil Queen Layered over Rimmel Glam Goth

...and finally, this is 2 coats of Evil Queen ( again ), layered over Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Grey Area. My ring nails are 2 coats of Grey area and a coat of Pure Ice Oh Baby. I looooove Pure Ice Oh Baby, and there really is no relevance for me to layer Pure Ice Oh Baby over Grey Area to compare it to Evil Queen, I just happened to be wearing the X-treme Wear polish w/ Oh Baby Layered over it  when I bought Evil Queen and wanted to wear it right away.

I though for sure that the flecks in Pure Ice Oh Baby were the same in Claire's Evil Queen, but the Pure Ice flecks seem to have alot more oomph to them -  they are more noticeable and sparkly

2 pretty polish finish's that look good in dim lighting

I love how the light from the TV bounces of my nails when I am wearing chrome polish's. This is 2 coats of an older dis-continued Sally Hansen Chrome polish called SAPPHIRE which is a lite baby blue chrome. It is super reflective - I love these chrome polish's as 'underwear' for layering. I have amassed quite a collection and can usually match a similar chrome polish to layer over if I need to.

I applied some french tip guides and added a coat of  TURQUOISE (middle bottle) which is almost the same shade as the Pure Ice blue glitter I added over the tips, \strapless which is a dense medium blue glitter. Even though this polish is packed with glitter and could be opaque in 3 coats, I applied 2 coats over a polish with a similar colour just so there wasn't any sparse areas.

I have used these same 3 polish's for another mani HERE

.... and a mani with Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure, layered over NYC Skin Tight Denim

I started with 2 thin coats of NYC Skin Tight Denim {or STD lol} and added a thick coat of hidden Treasure, followed by a coat of  Nailene TC. I have only worn Hidden Treasure once on my nails and once on my toes..... I waited and waited for this to come to my town and I rarely ever wear it.

My previous manicure photos of this polish are the most 'used' and re-posted of all my photos. Here is a link to that post, just in case you are interested in seeing it Layered over black. I appreciate polish's with finish's that are very apparent in crappy lighting like duo-chromes, and multi- chromatic polish's, as well as basic chromes like the blue Sally Hansen chrome make-up polish in the mani above.

I think I did a great job of getting all the colours in this photo below. This is outdoors under the patio.

Also I totally have to note =   I wrote last summer I predicted that their would be a readily and widely available multi-chromatic flakey polish available in North America in stores by fall 2010 and I was wrong. I was right about the matte-madness of summer/fall 2010 though....... Does anyone else find it bizarre that there is 6 extremely close dupes of the Charla/Teal of Fortune/Jesses' Girl Glee {and the other 4} but so few good DENSE flakies out there? And also why isn't there a real linear Holographic polish in current collections from SH, Wet n Wild or other dept store brand names?

anyhoo... here is a few more photos of Hidden treasure layered over NYC STD

in low/dim lighting, the multi-chromatic flakes really do their job

Pure Ice Rio, {more layering}

2 coats of Pure Ice Rio layered over 2 thin coats of Claire's Matte Green

When I did my My Favorite Polish's post I had every Pure Ice Polish I have worn on there, but no photos, and I made a note to work on wearing those polish's. Pure Ice is an American polish Exclusive to Walmart USA, {they do have a website where you can order from}.

The entire collection is very wearable, there doesn't seem to be any negative buzz on the formula or colours either. I wish we had these in Canada! Is there any dud's in the current Pure Ice collection?

Anyhoo- this is Pure Ice Rio, which is a raspberry jelly base with mesmerizing flecks of ......flecks that flash blue, green purple and white-ish silver. I layered it over a medium green. I am pretty sure layering this over anything would be beautiful.
