2 cheery orange mani's

I had to take a break from blogging. I literally did not look at my blog for 3 days! It is easy for me to spend 2 plus hours reading nail blogs and watching nail videos, and I had to go cold turkey for a couple of days to get some crafts and sewing done. I am soooooo behind on reading blogs and adding my own stuff.

-♥- I MISS IT WHEN I AM NOT READING NAIL BLOGS AND LOOKING AT NAIL PHOTOS -♥- but; my time management skills are terrible and I have a tonne of things I want to sew, jewelery I want to make and crafty home decorating things I want to do.

I have alot of nail blog catching up to do!!!!!

anyhoo;  this is 3 coats of Wet n' Wild Blazed, a fabulous eye-catching orange creme. I swiped a pretty shimmery burnt orange polish across the tips of my ring nails, and used a dotting tool to make graduated sized dots. I added the single silver hex glitter and a coat of TC.

.......................and

I found 5 of the L.A. color's COLLECTIONS the next town over. The dollar store in Portage La Prairie Manitoba is awesome!!!!! I found the metallic's, french, disco, rock-star, and matte. I also found a display of Jordana polish and Jordana stripe polish, as well a s the LA Colors stripe polish & some of the LA Girls Color Craze polish's which was really nice because now I know where to purchase all of these in a real store vs. online.  Today I grabbed Metallic Olive, and even though I am off of my 'low-buy' I am proud I restrained myself♥

...... and another cheery orange mani

NYC Prince Street, 3 thin coats without TC. I tried to copy a beautiful mani I have seen recently but fudged it up so bad that it was un-salvageable. This is a darker range shade and does need 3 to 4 coats - all of the NYC in a New York minute polish's I have tried dry very very fast.

Berry Blast Off

This is 3 thin coats of NYC Manhatten, followed by 2 coats of At Deco pink stripe polish, a purposely messy addition of Raspberry glitter and a few of those fake rhinestones set into wet Top Coat. I really should have used 2 coats of top Coat, becuase this glitter textured and marred what should have been a shiny surface.

It's strange how some glitter nail polish is smoothe and only needs a light coat of Top Coat, and some glitter polish needs 2 or even 3 coats to get a shiny even surface. I got these fake rhinestones from the DollarRama and if they are covered by polish, any polish, the shiny finish clouds over. So now I just set them into wet top coat.

These fake rhinestones hung on for the day despite being placed into wet Top Coat..... My thumb nails and ring nails lost a few gems towards the evening but none of them got stuck in my hair.... this time!

I used a piece of spaghetti ( not cooked lol ) to pick up these gems and place them into wet TC

another pretty sponge mani

This was 3 coats of NYC Prince Street, followed by NYC Chelsea sponged on, then a coat of Maybelline ColorRama #40 Frosty Pink. I wanted the two polish colours to be distinguished on the nail, and it turned out just the way I hoped.

The ColorRama Top Coat was a last minute addition. This is supposed to be the same shimmery particles that are in Clarin's 230 or Unicorn Pee as it's referred to on MUA. The particles in  ColorRama #40 Frosty Pink have a unique property in that they look like glowing embers floating off of a burning fire.

I picked up this ColorRama polish at the Dollar Tree USA in my great USA haul of 2010.

Below is NYC in a New York Color minute quick dry polish in Prince Street. this was 3 coats.I would say this need 4 thin coats to opacity - it does dry fast! Hopefully for my next franken collection I will be using this polish, I have already used NYC polish's for some fabulous frankens and  I know I could whip up some stunners with this polish by just adding black, white and a few other shimmers I have kicking around to make some lovely polish's.

NYC Prince Street - 3 thin coats No Top Coat

.... also F-yeah! I found 2 more of these discontinued artificial nails at a dollar store in my town!

I like how they say 'career length' and I call them trophy wife length lol! in photos where my nails are on the long side, this is what I am wearing. Lately I have been using Nailene shorter length square artifical nails..... Typing with long nails like the ones above is not fun........

Above is a quick comparison of some similar colours and two of my favorite frankens from this batch that I made with NYC East Village....

All that I used to make these 8 frankens was, NYC east Village, a shimmery lite blue silver micro-glitter polish, and black and white. I always take my time and add polish in small amounts. (The 8th polish is missing from the re-cap as I have not worn it alone yet.)

I picked NYC East Village, which is a shimmery sheer teal polish for this franken series  BECAUSE ALMOST EVERY POLISH COMPANY HAS A SHEER SHIMMERY TEAL POLISH JUST LIKE THIS. In face I am certain that I did a post comparing this very same polish with 6 other brands and the results were that they were dupes.

this was 5 coats and it is still a little too sheer for me

While mixing East Village with West Village created a salivating deep teal polish, just adding black or white or black and white ( Grey lol ) to NYC East Village made some seriously beautiful polish. I am happy with all 8 that I whipped up and have already started on another franken polish series which I will start posts on tomorrow.

Also - I am positive with a little more tweaking, and possibly a few drops of Sally Hansen X-treme wear Emerald City I could totally dupe Icing Dark & Stormy. So if you missed out on China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic, or Joe Fresh Peacock, or Icing Dark & Stormy, mosey on down to a dept store and pick up these two in-expensive polish's and start mixing..... I seriously did not want to take my East/west Village Franken off and wore it for alot longer than my usual mani's.

If you have used East Village to make any franken
polish I would love to hear about it!

Franken and Plug Youself Sunday

3 coats of Claire's Matte Grey, with franken 'Laughing Through my Tears' layered over - NO Top Coat. I made this sheer franken with NYC East Village Sally Hansen White Dove and Sally Hansen Balance Frost I added some clear polish to that mix as well.

White Dove is a milky irridescent that leans on the teal side but flashes to a medium/deep purple. It is a weird consistency in that is translucent but also applies very streaky. I had hoped by watering it down with some clear polish, then adding the sheer NYC east village, and another milky purple iridescent polish I could make this a much more manageable polish and kick up the irridescent flash.

So this is  work in progress and I will have to add much more clear to SH White Dove to get it to the consistency and translucency that I want. When the Beyond Perfect polish's were available in stores I never bought any. I think they were quite pricey compared to other Sally Hansen polish's at the time. I did find an assortment on eBay last night ( oh my - ebay - you time sucker you ) and there are 2 or 3 Sally Hansen  Beyond Perfect that have a iridescent/duo-chrome or strong flash like White Dove. I'll have to hit up those dollar stores in my town for another one of these - hope they have some left.

Also; please leave a link to your nail blog so I can add you to my nail blog roll -  I will assemble a post tomorrow with all the new blogs I added to my roll.

Against All Odds Franken

Franken 'Against All Odds' 4 coats - no TC

Okay, it's not an 80's hair metal song, but Phil Collin's had alot of awesome hits in the 80's, and this is a wicked song.....plus I ran out of ideas for franken names and ended up watching dozens of Phil Collin's videos on You Tube.

I made this franken with NYC East Village, and Icing Starry Eyes which is a silver micro-glitter in a sheer lite blue base with blue iridescent flecks scattered throughout. ( Starry Eyes is discontinued  - it was very plain on it's own)

I am not sure if I should call the silver glitter in this polish fine glitter or micro-glitter..... it is very small but still obviously glitter.

The base colour did not change much for this franken. It was still very sheer, I may add some white creme polish to this in the future, but for now I am happy with how this turned out as well. I have 2 more frankens to share which were made with NYC East Village. So far they have all worked out perfectly.

I Ain't Missing You Franken

Here is a new franken I made with NYC East Village and a plain white creme.... this is paired with another franken that is made with the same polish's, just different quantities.

These are both cremes with subtle shimmer. The darker franken needs 2 coats for full coverage, while the lighter franken needs 3 or more..... it is sheer but they both dried fast because both polish's that I used to make these have a great fast drying formula.

I used my nifty pattern scissors to make this scalloped design, I cut them out of mailing labels

see the gooey bits left over.... that's because it is very humid inside right now.
