Claire's Poison Apple

Claire's Poison Apple, 3 thin coats with 1 coat of Nailene TC layered over a golden chrome polish. I feel a little disappointed with this polish, even though it is very pretty, I wish it did not have the boring base colour it does. In some lighting it looks like a run-of-the-mill mulberry/red shade. In many lighting conditions the golden/copper duo-chrome flakes look fabulous.

This polish; Claire`s Candy Apple, as well as Claire`s Venomous dried very fast. The effect in both of these polish's is very pretty & I recommend layering them over an opaque base.

For underware I chose Sally hansen Chrome in Gilded Pearl Chrome. This had no effect at all on the final colour and finish of Claire's Candy Apple, I just wanted to reduce the appearance of bare spots and the amount of coats of Candy Apple that I would use. The photo below is 2 coats with NO TC.

Here is Claire`s Candy Apple, layered over Sally Hansen Gilded Pearl Chrome. My thumb is 1 thick coat, the rest of my nails are 1 coat each of varying thickness.... the only photo I have to show the transparency of Poison Apple.

These next two photos are interesting, its amazing that this is even the same polish! The one immediately below is a photo directly under my light source.....

.... and this one is less than 8 inces away from my light source! = weird, but pretty♥

Free-hand chevron♥

My previous mani was 3 coats of Sally Hansen XW Flirt, a dark vampy shimmery burgundy. I added wet n' wild night prowl in a chevron - by swiping it diagonally across the corners of my nail, and applied a coat of TC, setting a square nail gem just above the point.

I am very happy with how this chevron turned out, I usually use french nail tip guides but I just wanted something fast and easy, I think it turned out just fine. I just happened to have Wn'W Night Prowl out in my 'to paint' basket: It is a nice polish that dries fast for me.

Has there been any word on whether the new Wn'W products will make an appearance in Canada..... looks like I'll have to write the company again

I am messing around with a few different lights and light-bulbs in my home..... I am so frazzled without my regular light-fixture and  THAT SPECIFIC LIGHT BULB!  I hope I can find that type of light-bulb soon.

MORE! NYC in a New York Minute polish's

4 thin coats of NYC Chelsea w/TC

So I'm pretty much copying what Steph at Steph's closet wrote about this, Chelsea is a deep candy apple shimmer....  I love the shimmer in this polish and like this shade of red. This polish needed 4 thin coats * could be 5 * but it dried ridiculously fast, so I cannot complain.

The Website for NYC In A New York Minute has not been updated with their recent additions, and there is a few on there that are no longer in the current Canadian collection. One very pretty one that I do not have is called Fifth Avenue, a coppery orange shimmer. I'll have to hunt around my town and see if I can round one up.

NYC Manhattan is a deep burgundy magenta creme - YESSSSS! a creme, my favorite polish finish. I kept messing up my paint job by touching stuff and brushing the surface of my nails against things, so this is just 2 coats because I had to remove this and start over. I didnt even bother to do a proper clean up ~ I somehow managed to get polish on the back of my hand ( wtf  lol )

I love this colour and am happy that it is a dark vampy shade, but not so dark that you can't tell it is purple. I'll have to hunt through my collection and see what it is comparable to. The formula on this was perfect and it dried very, very  fast......

Sinful Colors Just You Wait.....

and wait I did! almost 10 months after seeing this fabulous duo-chrome polish on Mary's Blog, Body and Soul - I have it! I found this in Canada at London Drugs, it was a surprise to see the Sinful Colors polish's collection here in Canada. So far they only have the boring, work appropriate shades, none of the funky bright polish's that can be found at Walgreen's USA or on-line at Cherry culture and the Sinful Colors website.

I really really wanted this polish - and now I have it. It is a fabulous STRONG duo-chrome that ranks right up with the older Sally Hansen Duo-Chrome Nail Prisms, too bad it's all gloomy and cloudy outside.  Indoors the duo-chrome is apparent, but it shows more of a flashy evergreen, with a slight tinge of golden shimmer.

I have layered 1 coat of Sinful Colors Just You wait over my previous mani, NYC Canal Street, I added 2 outdoor pic's of that must have polish as well in this post. While these photos under cloudy skies do not showcase the gorgeous green to burgundy to purple to gold duo-chrome, the effect is still visible. This is another must have.

It looks so boring the bottle, what a surprise! My next American acquisition will be Love My Nails Dazzling -  it is soooooo pretty, and only .99 cents ( seriously! ) If you have a chance to check out the Walmart USA website, there is fabulous photos of most of the LOVE My Nails polish's ( do not pick a location on the walmart website, just type in love my nails..... or it doesn't show up for some reason )

I am puzzled that there is so many in-expensive and friggen awesome polish's out there that rarely end up on blogs, I'm talking more about polish available in the USA that are in-expensive and can be found easily at Walmarts or other department stores and drug-stores. I'm just one girl from Canada, so I am calling out USA polish lovers go model those cheap, readily available polish's that are often overlooked. there has been more 'coverage' of these in recent months, but if you happen to have any shades that are spectacular or that need to be known about, I hope that more people will blog about those.

♥ I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Years Eve ♥

♥ NYC Canal Street ♥

NYC Canal Street  3 thin coats - this IS AN AWESOME POLISH!

Well, well, well ~ i FAIL AT AUTO-POST!

Merry Christmas nail polish blog-land and pardon me for not double-checking my blog & auto-post feature. Hopefully everyone had a fun, enjoyable holiday. I am happy to be home.

This week I plan to model the rest of the NYC In A New York Minute polish's I have acquired recently - the 'sorta boring common' shades that I seem to have passed on previously. I think because the display for this brand is all tucked away and squished together I tend to pass them by. These polish's dry fast and have superb colour pay-off, there is a great selection of colours and the formula is awesome. I loooooooove these! I am sorry I waited so long to buy them all.

This is 3 thin coats of NYC Canal Street, a rich bronze-burgundy. It looks like a metallic foil on the nail - but it is not a foil, so there will be no bits of silver all over my hands . I know there are some great outdoor swatches of this on Google images, but I still want to get outside for some better macro shots in the a.m. tomorrow. This formula is fabulous and it applied wonderfully. I am appalled that these are only .99 cents to $2.50-ish they are definitely a superior polish and it is worth having the entire collection ( even the boring work appropriate colours are nice! )

all my photos are indoors under fluorescent lighting.....( EDIT I added 2 outdoor shots )

♥ 'My Prescious' - franken made with an old, old Sally Hansen ♥

Franken  My Precious 3 thin coats with 2 coats of Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat

Firstly - there is like 30 photos in this post - sorry, I had to post them all. I'm glad I have alot of previous manicure photos on my desktop, becuase I am enchanted with this franken I made and don't want to take it off. I made this franken polish with Sally Hansen Maximum Growth 'Opal Truth' and Claire's 'Matte Cobalt'. I fulled up an empty bottle of Revlon Color Stay 1/2 way with the Sally Hansen Opal Truth, then added approximately 10 drops of the 'Matte Cobalt'.

I imagined that these 3 frankens would be very sheer, and planned to use them as layering polish...... But they are holding their own and are great at three thin coats. All three maintained the intense shimmer from the S.H. 'Opal truth' The teal polish, in the middle was made with Chg 'Shower Together is really cool. It is a teal shimmer with a pink flash - how cool is that! I named it 'Shower For Three' = That I will definitely be wearing next.

I saw this very same Sally Hansen Polish on MUA for trade, remembered that I had it and decided to pull it out of my stash and make some frankens with it. No sense of it just sitting in a box when I could put it to good use ♥.

When I'm ready to take this mani off, I will do a comparison with Claire's Magic. I'm super duper happy that I used a pretty polish that I never wear, and made something beautiful out of it. Below is a photo of the three frankens I made using Sally Hansen 'Opal Truth'. I will do a skittlez eventually and wear these beauties as full mani's. I love opalescent polish's - they are usually easy to find in discount and clearance sections and they make great frankens.

L to R -  I filled up these old empty Revlon Color Stay bottles 1/2 way with Sally Hansen Maximum Growth 'Opal Truth' I used Sally Hansen 'Radish' ( dark vampy purple) China Glaze 'Shower Together'  and Claire's  'Matte Cobalt'.

I named them L to R- 'Natural Radish', 'A Shower for Three' and 'My Precious'. I have already modeled 'Natural Radish HERE, and will be wearing 'A Shower for Three'  ( or 'Shower 4-3' what'ev's ) next!

Here's a million photo's.  It's a bit overkill, but i was just so happy to have natural sun that i literally took 99 photos outside and of course Blurples are ridiculously hard to photograph. Thankfully I had a little bit of sunshine here around supper-time, so I got some gorgeous outdoor photos. It's so bizarre that cameras cannot capture these kinds of weird blue/purples.
