♥ Layering with S.H. 'Blackberry' ♥

Just for fun here is some layering skittles, I started with a base of Sally Hansen Blackberry - 2 coats with no T.C. then layered various polish's.

THUMB- just Sally Hansen 'Black Berry' 2 coats
INDEX- Billie 'Hot to Trot'
MIDDLE- Billie 'Electric Blue'
RING- Wet n' Wild 'Sparkling Diamond'
PINKY- Indulge 'Red Flakie' ( would not dry!!!!)

and then finished off with a coat of Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat. The Indulge polish on my pinky nail would not dry- but in this red jelly polish is really neat blue iridescent flecks..

♥ Fingr's "Red" Layered over black & white ♥

I love these types of reds, ones that are just sheer enough that when layered they create a beautiful deep red. I had recently seen this on Strych's blog 'Pretty in Dayton' and had to copy immediately. I usually wear my red's like this anyways, but thought it would be fun to do a comparison/ tutorial.

As you can see in the photos above and below, the black base makes a huge difference with this polish, while the white brightens it up just a tad. Hope my pic's are self explanatory, but;

PINKY- 2 coats fing'rs 'Red'
RING- 2  coats white - 2 coats fing'rs 'Red'
MIDDLE- 2 coats fing'rs 'Red'
INDEX- 2  coats black - 2 coats fing'rs 'Red'
THUMB- 2 coats fing'rs 'Red'

♥ Dollar tree skittles ♥

I found these cute mini polish at The Dollar Tree in Grand Forks USA in summer... they are very nice colors - but the polish is very, very strong smelling. One of the has some weird coagulation at the bottom of the bottle which did not transfer onto the nail. The polish on my middle nail stained my false nail badly.

anyhoo heres a bunch of pics.

♥ SKITTLES - Sally Hansen & Pure Ice layering ♥

( oops I totally though I posted this along time ago! )

Just a quickie layering skittles. I picked up this beautiful Sally Hansen New Lengths 'Soft Satin' at  another bargain store in my town. This is sooooooo beautiful over black, I have this on my list for a future mani as soon as I can!!!!  I already did a full mani with Sally Hansen "Iris Opal", and Pure Ice 'Oh Baby' is a polish that I have used before as well HERE.  I know I have alot of dark purple polish's in my collection, but there is something soooo beautiful about these multi-chromes, duo-chromes and shimmery polish's over black that is absolutely mesmerizing. I used 1 coat of Nailene Acrylic Strong top coat for each nail.

♥ Nat Robbins Nail Polish Goodies ♥

Woo Hoo - Bargain store goodies - These are apparently some long discontinued nail polish that may be coming to a discount store near you. Nat Robbins is a brand I had seen on eBay, like 2 yrs ago. I do not recall this brand in Canada at any time, Was it in the USA? I love this square bottle and found that these do not smell bad, and dry fast for a bargain brand. I found these polish at a local bargain store for $1.50 each.

EDIT; I found these at "A Buck or Two" at the town Center in Brandon Manitoba. These types of dollar stores like "A buck or Two"  = are franchised stores and so they will purchase like 100,000 of a specific item and split them up between all their franchise-eees to send a case of whatever the item is to each store .  I saw these in a ' wants to swap list' from someone from British Columbia on Make-up Alley; and I am sure that they have "A buck or Two" dollar stores there as  well.  Do they have these types of store in Ontario? anyone know?

They must have just gotten a shipment in becuase there was like 40 of this pretty "Midnight Hour" Polish in the bin. I do not have Naturistic's "Crystal Blue Pearl" to compare this to, but form all the photos I have seen it's pretty close. Why is there so few polish's like this out there on the market?   I had found the Milani glitters released in fall-time, and the Claire's holiday LE jelly glitters way too overpriced for the quality and volume ( for the Claire's jelly-ish-glitters it was $ 18.50 CAD - Thats ridiculous!!!! )

The blue polish "Midnight Hour" is very, very, very close to Naturistic's Crystal Blue Pearl. It is a jellyish polish with the tinyest bits of silver. I think it needs 3 to 4 coats to look it's best. The green "Greed" is a lovely vibrant green with alot of shimmer. The brownish color "phantom" has a neat pinkish shimmer. Really un-expected in a chocolaty brown polish. On my Thumb & Pinky is Sally Hansen Insta Dri in "Teal Takeoff" I had to give this another try - I was really heavy handed and got some serious bubbles with this polish!

All three of these Nat Robbin's polish's were incredibly shiny on their own, but I added a coat of Nailene Acrylic Strong  to speed up drying time. I just finished putting on the T.C. and the sun went down! But- I got some outdoor photos finally - it is ridiculously cold out. Does anyone else remember seeing these polish's in the store before they were discontinued? apparently they had a whole line of cosmetics.

♥ More skittles....Sorry? ♥

NOTE: this is an older post I never got around to posting.

I wanted to torture myself a little more trying to take photo of Rimmel 'Glam Goth' as well as do some layering with the sheer -but very pretty- Wet n' Wild 'Bijou Blue' & 'Caribbean Frost'. 'Bijou Blue' did end up looking good layered over N.Y.C. 'S.T.D.' - but 'Caribbean Frost' was still streaky.

They are both really pretty colors, very inexpensive and easy to find. I plan of 'fixing them up' in the future. Not sure exactly how to do that, but I imagine it will be lots of fun♥

This polish 'Caribbean Frost' was surprising in that it was still very sheer and a little streaky when applied over NYC Skin Tight Denim. I am hoping I can do a little tweaking with this polish.... not sure what I will do yet.

LEFT- Wn'W Caribbean Frost 3 coats & 2 coats of T.C.
RIGHT -2 coats of NYC STD & 3 coats of  Wn'W Caribbean Frost 2 coats of T.C.

Bijou Blue did end up a little more darker when layered over NYC Skin Tight Denim. It is very pretty on it's own, but I like my polish's to have alot of strength and opacity to them.
