New Blog Monday &Sally Hansen Brown Chrome & Rusty Ballz

I know there is another name for this older Sally Hansen Chrome polish. I have hunted around on the internet for the correct name but cannot find it. It is a brown chrome from the discontinued Sally Hansen Chrome Nail Make-up collection

... and now the sad stuff  = THESE WERE BAD BALLZ!

It says steel on the bottle, so I thought they would be fine. But they rusted in a few of my polish's

You really do need quality STAINLESS STEEL BB's for polish bottles

I bought these a few years ago and only added them to a few franken polish's.  I did not ruin any franken polish's that I couldn't re-make again. I did add these to some polish's that I had to throw away, thankfully I had back-ups of those.

Below is these same BB's in various clear polish's.

The smoothe silver ball came from a Sally Hansen bottle, and the 2 rusty balls are the walmart BB's that had been in a clear sally Hansen polish bottle. This was approximately 6 months later. When I repeated this recently these balls began rusting within days.

The top bottle has the rusty walmart balls, and the bottom bottle has the original Sally Hansen ballls

I placed these balls in clear Billie Cosmetics polish for 6 months = RUST!!!

2 pretty polish finish's that look good in dim lighting

I love how the light from the TV bounces of my nails when I am wearing chrome polish's. This is 2 coats of an older dis-continued Sally Hansen Chrome polish called SAPPHIRE which is a lite baby blue chrome. It is super reflective - I love these chrome polish's as 'underwear' for layering. I have amassed quite a collection and can usually match a similar chrome polish to layer over if I need to.

I applied some french tip guides and added a coat of  TURQUOISE (middle bottle) which is almost the same shade as the Pure Ice blue glitter I added over the tips, \strapless which is a dense medium blue glitter. Even though this polish is packed with glitter and could be opaque in 3 coats, I applied 2 coats over a polish with a similar colour just so there wasn't any sparse areas.

I have used these same 3 polish's for another mani HERE

.... and a mani with Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure, layered over NYC Skin Tight Denim

I started with 2 thin coats of NYC Skin Tight Denim {or STD lol} and added a thick coat of hidden Treasure, followed by a coat of  Nailene TC. I have only worn Hidden Treasure once on my nails and once on my toes..... I waited and waited for this to come to my town and I rarely ever wear it.

My previous manicure photos of this polish are the most 'used' and re-posted of all my photos. Here is a link to that post, just in case you are interested in seeing it Layered over black. I appreciate polish's with finish's that are very apparent in crappy lighting like duo-chromes, and multi- chromatic polish's, as well as basic chromes like the blue Sally Hansen chrome make-up polish in the mani above.

I think I did a great job of getting all the colours in this photo below. This is outdoors under the patio.

From SPECIAL POSTS

Also I totally have to note =   I wrote last summer I predicted that their would be a readily and widely available multi-chromatic flakey polish available in North America in stores by fall 2010 and I was wrong. I was right about the matte-madness of summer/fall 2010 though....... Does anyone else find it bizarre that there is 6 extremely close dupes of the Charla/Teal of Fortune/Jesses' Girl Glee {and the other 4} but so few good DENSE flakies out there? And also why isn't there a real linear Holographic polish in current collections from SH, Wet n Wild or other dept store brand names?

anyhoo... here is a few more photos of Hidden treasure layered over NYC STD

in low/dim lighting, the multi-chromatic flakes really do their job

Some peppy pink nail art (pic heavy)

I still like the sponge technique, but I am getting better with managing this technique....I think it is on the lumpy side, much more lumpy-er than regular sponging bet less messy and more managable. I  achieved this look the same way as my previous mani ( with video!!!!1) but concentrated on the tips of my nails....

I started with 2 coats of Billie Purple Rain, and followed that with 3 coats of the WnW Lavender Creme which is a hot pink creme. I added 2 coats of Pure Ice Rio over the pink area, then added a coat of Nailene Tc to finish this off.

With WnW Lavender Creme, applied with the brush, I removed as much polish as possible and pounced on the pink diagonally across the tips of my nails.

 with a coat of TC

Below - I havent worn this pretty pink polish as a full mani, even though I have had it for a long time. It is a very vibrant pink creme, though it is called 'Lavender' creme LOL. It was on the sheer side so this is 3 coats, (most hot bright pinks I have are sheer)

 WnW Lavender Creme

Above, I like how this turned out and will probably try this again soon. With the polish brush and a small amount of polish on the brush, I gently pounced on the surface of my nail over a base of Sally Hansen Chrome in Moonstone, using WnW Lavender Creme and SH Hot Magenta, followed by 2 coats of Maybelline Colorama in Cold as Ice and a coat of TC

stuff I used; SH Chrome Moonstone, WnW Lavender Creme, SH Hot Magenta, Colorama Cold as Ice

♥ LAZERZ ♥

Someone else did this look and blogged abut this in early spring..... I know I have seen this on another blog. I loved it and always wanted to try it...... Sadly it did not work out as good for me, but I still wanted to post it.

Anyhoo- I started with some forgotten Halloween nails which I never used, I buffed off the bat & moon image and applied a coat of black polish, just to even things out . Then used those dental floss pick things to make these lines.....Whoever I copied this look from did a much better job then I did but I really, really wanted to try and re-create it, because it looked soooo cool!

I didn't bother adding another coat of top coat, because I am taking this off shortly. I also snapped my thumb nail in half...Sigh - I used Naturistic's Super Chrome polish's for the laser lines; Ruby Reflection, Gun Metal, Deep Violet & Blue Spark. I love these Super Chromes.

This reminds me of school art time where you put pieces of yarn in paint, then squish them between a piece of folded paper..... I wont call this a total fail, because I learned alot with this 'technique' for future nail art.

I know I have seen this done with much, much better results, hope someone can point me in the right direction!

♥ Naturistic's Super Chrome - 'Blue Spark' ♥

Naturistic's Super Chrome - 'Blue Spark' 3 coats & 2 coats of Nailene T.C. ~

NOTE: this is an older post I never got around to posting. I will be working on my newest nail project and some other crafty things & around the house stuff = so I am posting all the posts waiting to be posted.....

Wooooooooooooow - I almost did not buy this polish.... The bottles are opaque silver and I missed it the first time that I visited another a bargain store in my town. This color combined with this finish is mesmerizing. I am a little embarrassed to post this with the surface of my nails in the condition that they are in. But I had to do a mani with this as soon as I could.

The color is a little off, but it does have this glow to it in real life. I love polish's that are noticeable in dim dark lighting, and this one reflected everything.

Is there an intense blue chrome polish like this available today? This is a real stunner!

♥ Naturistic's 'Ruby Reflection' ♥

~ Naturistic's Super Chrome 'Ruby Reflection' - 2 coats on Nailene T.C. ~

NOTE: this is an older post I never got around to posting. I will be working on my newest nail project and some other crafty things & around the house stuff so I am posting all the posts waiting to be posted.....

I keep ending up wearing these "camera bust'in" bright magenta's..... I love how these look IRL= but can never capture it on camera. The full mani photos actually came out better than the skittles photos... so I shouldn't complain. There is just something about this color that does not translate well to photos. Oh well.... Here is the lovely Naturistic's Super Chrome 'Ruby Reflection'. I pulled this off with 2 coats which I am happy with, but chrome polish's are very unforgiving, every little flaw on your nails is visible.

I have done a skittles with this polish, with the only outside photos I could get. I will definitely be wearing this one again in the future= but with brand spank'in new false nails..... Hats off to those who opt for natural nails and lots of ridge filler when wearing Chrome or mirror finish polish's!
