subtle cosmos glitter and Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost

My placement of nail gems and holo hex glitter pieces is very outer-space like, so I'll call this a cosmos mani.... I started with the same greyed out lilac base of artificial nails, then sponged on Sally Hansen Chrome polish is moonbeam, then China Glaze Grape Juice, then applied the larger purple/pink nail gem that I peeled off from my dollar store stickers post ( HERE ). I applied a coat of Claire's Hollywood and set larger holographic hex glitter into it.

stuff i used, Claire's Hollywood, Sally Hansen Moon Beam Chrome and ChG Grape Juice

Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost - 3 coats

OMG!!!! This is a beautiful polish!!! 1 dollar CAD? Strangely I did not already own this and picked it up during the last week of Walmart special sale price. It seems the last for 3 July's,  Wet n Wild polish's have been $1. and they actually restocked them 4 or 5 times..... I didnt go crazy but I did pick up some for frankens. Even at regular price Wet n Wild Wild Shine polish is well worth having. ( they are usually $1.57 to $2.00-ish CAD)

This is deep purple shimmer with somewhat subtle blue flash. In bright lighting and in the sun the blue flash is very evident.

I used 3 coats here, and have already incorporated it into some of my previous nail art.  These Wild Shine polish's from Wet n Wild have been very satisfactory - even though it says 'frost' it is not a frosty streaky polish at all!

This is another must have, I am looking forward to whipping up frankens with this one.

When in doubt - sponge! 2 purple sponge manis

lol - that fluff!

Today, after my blog hiatus, I have two purple sponge mani's. First I frankened Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost with China Glaze Grape Juice. Even though I darkened the China Glaze polish, the glass flecks were still very prominent, so that's a good thing.

I started with a base of older discontinued artificial nails from Nail Fetish that I found at the dollar store. I mixed up WnW Eggplant Frost with China Glaze Grape Juice on a piece of tin foil and sponged it on the last 3/4 of my nail....when it was sorta dry I added a coat of Nailene TC.

ChG Grape Juice, a pretty pale purple glass fleck polish that I don't use enough.

stuff I used; WnW Eggplant Frost, China Glaze Grape Juice Nailene TC

While I do like China Glaze Grape Juice, I think it is a tad too light, so I frankened a small amount with Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost and did a graduated sponge on a lilac base.

this is the base of the above and below manicures,

These are old discontinued Nail Fetish artificial nails that I found at the dollar store, they are a light lilac and have subtle shimmer. I had to cut them down and re-shape them, they were a weird almond shape.... also I glued the wrong one on my index nail, it is waaaaay to big! Whoops.

..... and another purple sponge mani~

stuff I used, XW Purple Potion, Purple stars from Michelas Craft stores, Nailene TC

I did a graduated sponge, then brushed on the Sally Hansen Purple Potion on the last 1/4 of my nail then added the star & a coat of TC

this is an older Sally Hansen X-treme Wear polish I found at a Garage sale for .10 cents
Purple Potion is a medium purple with strong blue flash

Tye dye nails

my inspiration pic from Cosas D' Chicas

I did a different colour scheme, I did like the yellow in her mani and will probably do something like this the next time I have a hankering to wear yellow polish ( which is like, once a year )

I sponged on these 3 colours....... using a sponge that is similar to the ones found on foam craft brushes from the dollar store..... I tried to randomly have the colours on my nails, overlapping and blending a little as well. I added a coat of clear polish and set the star gem & some silver hex glitter into the wet polish. After I took these photos I decided that I didn't really like the gems/hex glitter and picked them off and added a coat of top coat.... these 3 colours look very pretty together.

....... and remember my last mani?

here it is 24 hrs later, I picked off most of the gems on my index nail, they were getting in the way of my sewing/pining, but most if the gems at the base of my nails held on through my various activities...... I am getting into my sewing and am totally shocked these did not pop off right away!

I placed these gems into wet top coat, they held up well and i still had some difficulty to pry them of. I used normal nail polish remover to get the silver bits off......... here are my nails after i removed the gems.

SH Hidden Treasure layered over an orange sponged mani

Oh Hidden Treasure Flakies = you make everything gorgeous

This mani started out like this. I stretched my mani from yesterday, which was Wet n Wild Sunny Side Up. I removed the simple design I had on my ring nails then I sponged on a no-name Claire's polish which is an orange frosty abomination, and Color-Rama Sunrise Sensation, then I used Claire's Matte Top coat.

The sponging is subtle which is what I wanted. However I thought the flecks in the Color-Rama polish would show up much better. I added a coat of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure for more pizazz ( pizazz; lol)

The peach flecks in Tahiti Sunrise sorta show up

Green Granite sponge mani with Avon Polish's

It is hard to see in these photos, but I layered a nifty Color-Rama polish over this sponge mani called Give me the Chills. I love the finish that this sponge gives, It looks like a granite counter top. I sponged on  Avon Jade and Olive Green over 3 coats of Avon Electric Green. Then I added a coat of Maybelline Color-Rama Give me the Chills, and a coat of Nailene Top Coat.

The Kmart Sticker is covering up the name, but I happen to have 2 of these ' Give me the Chills' polish's from my great USA Haul of 2010. ( I miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiss you The Dollar Tree ). It needs to be lyered over something dark, (black or navy)

On the left is another Color-Rama polish Blazes of Blue; and on the Right is Give Me The Chills both layered over a dark blue polish. It has the same colour shifting properties as opalescent flakies, like in Hidden Treasure or the Nufeo polish's =  just in 'stick' form ha ha ha.

I like this colour, Avon Electric Green but this is 3 coats and there is still some bare spots. It dried fast like all the Avon polish's I have tried. I know this would be spectacular layered over white - which is probably what I will be doing next. This is 3 coats - No Top Coat

...later in the sun. I marred my Index nail ~ I did not apply Top Coat because knew i would have to do a layered -look with this polish because it was too sheer for me.

Avon Electric Green, Jade, and Olive Green - Isn't this an 'artsy' photo

I cut one of those big sponges into 'slices' so that they are easy to handle

stuff i used for this mani;

Avon Electric Green, Jade and Olive Green, ColorRama Give me the Chills & Nailene Top Coat

I don't think there is an actual granite with this colour scheme - but this totally looks like granite

Froggy Mani for earth day

This was 2 coats of an older franken I made 'Curtains', I sponged on another franken 'Mud Bath; When it was dry i used a mate top coat. Using a dotting tool, I added dots of varying size over the sponged area.

I do not own a slow drying clear polish, even plain dollar store clear polish dried to fast for me to try the matte/shiny looks  I want to do. For this look I used the Color Rama clear polish, and that dried a little to fast for me. But I did not have any clear 'polish strings' ;

This is supposed to be my my earth day nails, I thought I would try to do a homage to the small animals of the world that sometimes get displaced from urban sprawl - (how eco-conscious of me ♥)

Below, frankens with matte Top Coat

my franken 'Curtains'

..... and this is the franken polish 'Mud Bath' I sponged down the center of my nails (I tried to keep it in the center)
