Here's the blogs description just to give you an idea how of awesome it is:
Nouveau Cheap is a blog devoted to beauty on a budget. I don't believe that we need to spend a fortune on beauty products these days, and that's why you'll rarely see any beauty products reviewed here that retail for over 20 dollars. Most of the time, the products I review retail for under ten dollars! Nouveau Cheap stands for "The New Cheap"--consumers who know that you don't need to spend a lot of money to get quality beauty products that work.
Another fantastic reason to become a follower of Nouveau Cheap today is that there is an awesome contest going on. The blog is coming up on it's one year anniversary and if you are a follower you can enter this contest today. Be sure to check it out!
If you love product reviews as much as I do, you will love Nouveau Cheap!

Another Interesting Garment - Booty Pop Panties
So I was blogging this morning and I saw this commercial on TV for a product called Booty Pop - panties that make your behind look larger and lifted. I was immediately drawn to the commercial just because I thought it was really funny. Sorry y'all know how honest I am. I've never really understood why anyone would want to make their behind bigger, but whatever. I honestly do not have a need for Booty Pop panties - I'm good!
Do you own Booty Pop panties? Do you love them and think everyone needs to buy them? Let us know!

Review - Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Light (21)
I have been using this bronzer for years and wanted to share with y'all today about how incredible it is. Long before I was using this product, I loved Cargo's bronzer in Medium. It is an awesome bronzer, but it is kinda pricey. Enter Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Light. It is seriously the exact same to me. I cannot tell a difference, but my wallet sure can! Here are the reasons why I love this bronzer:
1. I have sensitive skin and it has never broken me out.
2. The color is so natural and gives you the perfect sunkissed glow.
3. This bronzer never oxides on me/turns orange.
4. Blends well and never streaks.
5. Lasts all day til I wash it off at night.
6. Is widely available at mass retailers and drugstores.
7. Only costs around $3 and lasts a long time
8. This bronzer has zero shimmer to it so you don't get the disco ball effect.
I apply this bronzer lightly to my face after applying my loose face powder. I use Essence of Beauty's large Kabuki brush which is available at CVS. Any large powder or kabuki brush will work.
Well there you have it! If you have been searching for a new bronzer I cannot say enough good things about this one. You must check it out! I think you will love it as much as I do.

OPI Absolutely Alice VS China Glaze Dorothy Who
Okay so here it is - the ultimate comparison between OPI Absolutely Alice and China Glaze Dorothy Who - two gorgeous shades of super sparkly blue. From shade differences to application, I will cover it all. Are you ready? Here we go!
First of all the main difference between these is that Absolutely Alice clearly has gold glitter added to its mixture. It is obvious in the bottle and obvious on the nail. I think that the gold was a nice touch on OPI's part and sets the polish apart from your standard blue glitter.
As far as shade comparison goes on these two, there isn't much to say here. The blues are so extremely similar. AA is perhaps just a tiny bit warmer due to the gold and DW a tad cooler because of the silver. Both polishes have large blue glitter. But that is where the extreme similarities end.
Lets talk finish and application. AA is thick as all get out. So thick that application was quite tricky. I have used this polish 2 times now both in it's original state and once with polish thinner added to it. Shockingly enough the thinner made zero difference. I always use Seche Vite Fast Drying Topcoat and even with it, AA still felt slightly gritty as most glitters do. This polish is amazingly gorgeous. But I will warn you it takes a little patience application wise.
However, DW had absolutely the most smooth application. I believe it is due to the jelly like finish and AA lacks that since it is more gritty and thick. I had zero problems with application. It felt smoother to the touch with SV topcoat over it too.
What about wear? Hands down DW is the winner. It lasted days on me with no chips and minimal tipwear. AA however, likes to chip on me. It wasn't ridiculously bad, but enough that I thought it was relevant to mention. I believe that is again due to the fact that AA is thick and was hard to achieve thin, even coats. I used both Orly Bonder basecoat and Seche Vite Fast Drying Topcoat with both AA and DW.
Even though these polishes appear similar, they are very very different indeed. I love them both and I find them unique enough to warrant owning both of them. I do feel that because of application I will find myself reaching for DW more often.
What are you thoughts? Have your tried either of these polishes?
Spotted - Cute AE Tanks for $15.50
Check out these adorable tank tops from American Eagle. These just arrived in stores for spring and retail for $15.50 and come in the 3 colors pictured. They are 100% cotton and will be super comfortable. This is the perfect tank to take you from day to night. Dress it down during the day with shorts and some flip flops. For night wear jeans and some gladiators. I am definitely gonna check these out the next time I go to AE! Click here to purchase the AE Cross-back Handkerchief Tank!
Lipglosses to Check Out
I thought I would share some of my favorite lipglosses today. I have tried tons over the years and these are some of the ones that really stand out to me and that I keep coming back to.
1. L'Oreal Color Juice in Berry Burst. I love these glosses! They have long been called the drugstore version of Lancome Juicy Tubes and I think they really do compare - except for price. Pictured is Berry Burst which I love, but they have tons of colors/flavors to choose from.
2. Wet N Wild Speed Gloss Energizing Lip Shine. I love the packaging for these! Some of my favorites include Manic, Untamed and Frenzied.
3. MAC Lipglass in PRRR. I have been using MAC Lipglass for years. PRRR is one of my favorites. Honestly I bought it several years ago after hearing it was a fave of Paris Hiltons. These glosses have some serious staying power and are totally worth the price.
4. MAC Tendertones in Tender Baby. Oh my goodness are these moisturizing! I sometimes like to just wear these on bare lips for the feeling. Fantastic alone or to top off your lipstick. This is the only color I have ever tried. Again if you don't wanna pay the price try L'Oreal's HIP glosses. They are packaged just like these and cost several dollars less. They have similar colors too.
5. NARS Turkish Delight. Bought this after hearing it was a fave of Kim Kardashians. I love her makeup and I love this gloss! I use it along with MAC Angel lipstick and it looks great. Want a cheap alternative to this gloss that is like the exact same? Check out Neutrogena Moisture Shine Gloss in Groove. Really I almost love the texture of this one better than the NARS. Don't tell!
6. Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Gloss in Strawberry Fizz. These are some of my tried and true favorites. I have been using these glosses ever since they came out years ago and I cannot say enough good things about them. My top 2 favorite colors are Cupquake and Strawberry Fizz. These look really pretty over lipstick or alone. LOVE!!!
What are some of your most favorite glosses/lip products?
Gorgeous 99 cent Lipstick
For the ultimate beauty bargain you must check out Wet N Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in 502A Dark Pink Frost. Yes I know that the shade name sounds scary since "frost" is mentioned, but this is one of the most gorgeous lipsticks I have ever purchased from the drugstore.
First of all, it is only 99 cents. How awesome is that? The shade is a beautiful mauve-rose that is infused with gold shimmer. The gold shimmer is in no way over the top or dramatic. This shade would more than likely look amazing on a lot of skintones and is perfect for daily wear. I get tons of compliments whenever I wear this color.
Next time you are at your local drugstore be sure to check out this little gem. I have purchased this shade more times than I remember and I love it every bit as much as I do my MAC lipsticks. Top it with the gloss of your choice and you are good to go. I love Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Gloss in Cupquake on top of this shade.

Eyeliners that RULE
Today I want to share some eyeliner must haves. These are some of my tried and true favorites and maybe you will love them too!
1. Urban Decay 24/7 liners - Absolutely some of the best eyeliner out there! They come in a ton of amazing colors too. They blend and smudge how you want them and then set quickly and last all day. Some of my absolute favs are Zero and Bourbon (pictured) and Stash. This is my go to brand for fun bright liner colors. Urban Decay is sold at Ulta and Sephora.
2. Wet N Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner - If you have been wanting to try out cream eyeliner but don't wanna spend a lot this is what you need! This is hands down the best out of all drugstore brand cream liners. Trust me!
3. MAC Fluidline - my absolute favorite high end cream eyeliner. This stuff does NOT budge! Amazing for doing winged eyeliner and tightlining. I use MAC's 209 eyeliner brush to apply this product. Waveline is the gorgeous navy blue pictured. I also love Blacktrack for the perfect smoky black liner look.
4. MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder - Perfect everyday black liner. Like most MAC liners this stuff does't budge.
5. Using Eyeshadow as liner. Pictured is a Milani eyeshadow single. Their eyeshadows are quite similar to MAC but cost about 75% cheaper. Milani is one of my most favorite drugstore brands of eyeshadow. I love using eyeshadows either wet or dry as a liner. It also looks great to layer eyeshadow over your regular liner. Matte shadows work fantastic for this.

Valentines Flowers
First off I hope all of you had a wonderful Valentines Day. I know we did! I have a funny story to share with you. Let me start by asking you - did you happen to see the Teleflora commercial during the Super Bowl? Okay, if so then you know where I am heading with this.
My husband wanted to surprise me and send me flowers at work this year. He has never sent me flowers, but has given them to me many times in person of course and he wanted to be sweet and change things up a bit. He was so good all week and kept it a surprise (which is really hard for him to do) and on Friday at work UPS shows up with a big box of flowers for me! I work with my brother and he brings the box back to the office. We are both excited and I proceed to open the box all too quickly. My excitement fades as I notice the majority of the flowers are dead, crushed and diseased/mildewed like in appearance. My mind immediately flashes to that Teleflora commercial - oh gosh! Knowing how upset my poor husband would be, I decided to immediately text him at work so that he could see about getting a refund. I sent him a picture on my cell too and he just couldn't believe it.
I was really bummed at first, but I am very big on "It's the thought that counts" and totally knew how sweet and thoughtful my husband was to do this for me. I thought it was SO sweet that he wanted to surprise me like that. He was not so happy when I told him about the flowers, but we both quickly proceeded to joke (as we usually do about things) about the situation! He told me that when the Super Bowl commercial came on that he had actually already ordered the flowers and it make him feel cheap - all the while I am laughing about the commercial because of what the dead flowers say! If only either of us would have known what was to happen next!
So on Friday after the fiasco, I get home from work to see a gorgeous vase of long stem red roses on the kitchen counter. My husband was so mad about the other flowers that he went out and bought me more. What a sweetheart!
Needless to say, he got a refund on the bad flowers that he ordered. It could have just been a fluke. I also could have been UPS's fault. Who knows. He ordered from Proflowers.com who came highly recommended. They did have excellent customer service on both the ordering end and the refund end.
The photos above show the damaged flowers and what they were supposed to look like. The gorgeous red roses are the 2nd bouquet my husband purchased.
We are still laughing about this and I know it's gonna be one of those stories we remember for years to come! We had a wonderful Valentine's Day and I am so grateful to have a husband who is so thoughtful, loving and the most awesome best friend a girl could ever ask for ♥
Suddenly Everywhere - Jumpsuits and Rompers
Talk about a serious fashion flashback! I'm seeing rompers and jumpsuits turning up everywhere from high end to low end stores. Whenever I see these I am reminded of The Girls Next Door show because Bridget used to always wear outfits like these and of course she looks great in them. Certain people can definitely pull them off and well - okay there are a whole lot who definitely can't. I can tell you for a fact that you won't see me sporting the look because I for sure cannot rock this look.
So what are your thoughts on the very 70's style comeback? Do you wanna wear this and do you want to see others wearing it too? Do you hate it or love it? Honestly the whole thing just makes me think of the roller skating rink ♥
Love the looks pictured? Click Black Jumpsuit or /Blue Romper or Olive Belted Romper to purchase. All from Old Navy.
Eric Clapton 2010 Tour
For Valentine's Day my husband surprised me with tickets to the upcoming Eric Clapton Roger Daltrey concert on March 5! I am SO excited and can't wait to go. Two legends in one room! What more could you ask for? We had actually won tickets to go see The Who several years ago, but the show was 3 hours away and so we didn't go. We regret that decision to this day and this will totally make up for it.
Wanna see if they are coming to a town near you? Click HERE for the tour schedule.
Urban Decay Spring 2010 - New 24/7 Eyeliner Shades
I was so excited to see that Urban Decay has released 4 new 24/7 liner shades for Spring 2010. Pictured above are Oil Slick, Mildew, Crash and Binge. Urban Decay's website gives the following color descriptions:
Binge - Navy Blue
Crash - Deep Plum with teeny silver glitter
Mildew - Deep Green
Oil Slick - Black with teeny silver glitter
These all sound so gorgeous and I am especially curious about Mildew. If you have never tried Urban Decay 24/7 liners I highly suggest you do. I have posted before that I really love Bourbon(Brown with teeny gold glitter), Zero(Zealous Black) and Stash(Dark Green/gold). The staying power and the blendability (I think I just made up a word LOL) of these make them worth every penny. These never irritate my eyes and I am able to use them on my waterline without fading or running.
Urban Decay products can be purchased at Ulta and Sephora. Click HERE to visit Urban Decay's website.
Shoes of the Day
I spotted these adorable sandals on a recent trip to American Eagle and just had to tell y'all about them. I love them in light gold - the color pictured. How cool is it that they combine the styling of a gladiator and a classic leather flip flop into one look? I love it! Anyway, they come in 4 colors - red, white, gold and tan. They are leather free and the best part is that they are $29.50. I like the stitching that goes around the footbed as well. It's a nice touch and makes the sandals appear more expensive. I think I will definitely try these on again when I go back to AE.
Wanna buy em? Click HERE to purchase.
Review - Coty Airspun Loose Powder
I have tried so many different powders over the years - both high end and drugstore brands. I wanted to share with you today the powder that I have been using over the past few years and love. It's a timeless classic that has been around longer than most of us reading this blog.
I was first attracted to Coty Airspun after reading glowing reviews online. When I originally purchased it several years ago, they had a fragrance free version that was fantastic, but has since been discontinued. From there, I switched over to their regular Translucent formula and love it just the same. I have sensitive combo skin and wasn't sure how it would work for me, but it wasn't different at all and had zero effect on my skin.
I think hands down the main factor that makes this powder so fantastic is the fact that it is the finest milled powder I have ever used. Why does this matter? Well it makes it almost disappear on your skin like nothing else. It is so incredibly soft and smooth. Honestly I'm not the biggest fan of the fragrance, but to me it is not so overpowering that I can't overlook it and it goes away once you apply. I know most of you are probably thinking - "Isn't this the stuff my grandma uses?" Sure maybe so! It has been around for generations, but that just means it is tried and true and has standed the test of time.
So if you are in the market for a new powder I suggest you try this. For me the Translucent is best because some of the other colors are kinda tricky shadewise. I just use a little bronzer over the powder and I am good to go. This powder can be purchased at drugstores and large retailers.
Coty Airspun Loose Powder comes in a retro printed round cardboard like box that looks cute sitting out on a sink or vanity. Upon opening the lid you will see a clear film holding the powder in place. Here's a little trick I learned - Don't rip the film off! Use a straight pin and prick holes in the middle or just transfer the powder to a sifting jar. I use Essence of Beauty's giant kabuki to apply this powder. This brush can be purchased at CVS for $9.99 but any large powder or kabuki brush will do.
Have you used Coty Airspun before? What do you think? Love it or hate it?

Review - Aveeno Ultra Calming Moisturizing Cream Cleanser
I have been searching for a new facial cleanser to replace my Dove Cleansing Cloths for Sensitive Skin as it has been getting more and more difficult for me to find them. So many stores have either stopped carrying them, don't have them at all or are out of stock often. Up until today I had been using the Dove cloths as part of my morning routine, but have been wanting something a little more moisturizing. I have sensitive combination skin and so many face washes/products don't agree with me.
Before I start with my review, here is what aveeno.com has to say about this product: This gentle, soap-free, creamy cleanser with skin conditioners lifts away dirt, oil and make-up while moisturizing dry and sensitive skin. With an extract of Feverfew, a natural ingredient related to chamomile known for its soothing properties, your sensitive skin will look and feel its healthy best.
Let me start out by saying how wonderful this made my face feel. I used it first thing this morning and it made my skin feel very calm and very moisturized without being greasy or feeling like it was coated with residue. My face is super soft to the touch and I didn't get that tight too clean feeling - just clean comfortable skin. It is less red than normal and I feel like the product is really following through on it's promises. I will definitely give an update later since this is my first day using the product. But so far I absolutely love it! I can usually tell after one use if a product (esp. facial products) are gonna work for me and I have very high hopes for this one.
Here's my helpful tip for today - Always read product reviews before purchasing health and beauty items. It will help you to make good decisions and also save you time and money. I am always curious to hear what others have to say about products and if they do or don't work. Here are some links to 2 of my most favorite places for product reviews: makeupalley, amazon.
So if you are in the market for a new face wash I HIGHLY recommend this. If you have combination skin, sensitive skin or dry skin I think this product will work great for you. It's fragrance free, soap free and moisturizes without being greasy - Perfect!
Gladiators: Still on trend for Spring/Summer 2010
I am a HUGE fan of gladiator sandals and was very excited to see that they are still going strong this season. You will see tons of variety from metallic, colorful, braided, buckles, stones, studs, grommets, zippers - to name a few. You can't go wrong no matter which you choose. There are tons of styles at all different price points and something for everyone.
Gladiator sandals look fantastic with everything from dresses to shorts. I've spotted some really cute ones at American Eagle and also Vince Camuto has a nice line out this year too. And of course you can't go wrong with Sam Edelman either.
No matter how you rock this trend there is one thing that's for sure - you will look awesome and people will be constantly asking about your sandals!
* Pictured above is last seasons Ginger sandal in Pewter by Sam Edelman and this seasons American Eagle gladiator. If you missed the Ginger sandal from last year be on the lookout for the Hudson sandal by Sam Edelman. It's pretty much the same sandal, but it has stones on the vamp. The Hudson is currently on Sam Edelmen's site - click the link above.
Menswear Oxford Trend
This is just one trend I don't get. I have yet to see people where I live partaking in this terrible trend, but I keep seeing it in all the fashion magazines. I'm seeing cute flowy above the knee dresses paired bareleg with these shoes.
And I think to myself...WHY??? AGHHHH!!!!
If you are loving this trend then I do apologize. But I still don't get it. Even Kim Kardashian has been quoted bashing this one.
What do you think is the worst trend of 2010 so far?
Jade Is The New Black
OPI's newest collection Hong Kong has finally hit stores and websites! I'm excited because I was really wanting Jade is the New Black - the gorgeous green shade from the collection. Their are a lot of fantastic colors in the collection, but JitNB was the one that was really calling to me. I cannot wait to use it and will be doing so for my next mani! What is your favorite color from this collection? Click here to purchase.
Tousled Wavy Beach Hair
Do you love the look of the Victoria's Secret models hair especially when they are doing a beach shoot? Tons of celebrities sport this look everyday. Here is the way to easily mimic that just got off the beach look without hardly any effort.
I have straight, fine to medium thick hair, but it has just a little texture to it that comes out if I don't blow it dry. In order to achieve this look I shampoo and condition in shower as normal. Once most of the water is out of my hair I apply Suave Kids Detangling Spray in Double Dutch Apple (or use the detangler of your choice) from the ears down and comb through.
I then apply a very tiny pea sized amount of Biosilk serum or Moroccan oil to the ends. Or I'm sure you could use any serum. I follow that up with a light all over misting of Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray. I lightly scrunch and fluff my hair (not a necessary step, but I do it) and then let it fully air dry. DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR! You can part it, but that is optional.
Then there you have it. Sexy beach hair done easy. A lot of the definition you get will depend on the texture of you hair. The Surf Spray really helps the most in achieving this style. It works just like salt water does when you are at the beach and your hair is wet and dries in the air.
Where do I purchase these products? Suave Kids Detangling Spray can be purchased at mass retailers and drugstores. Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray at fine salons and Biosilk at Ulta or fine salons.
OPI Jade is the New Black
Since I posted on this pretty polish the other day I thought I would share some pics! I am absolutely loving this color and had zero application problems either. What more can you ask for? This color is totally the star of the collection and a must have for any OPI collector.
Another interesting layering garment - The hip-T
Remember awhile back I posted about layering bandeaus? Well this time we have a similar garment, but it does the exact opposite. Enter the Hip-T. I saw this item featured in an ad in the most recent edition of Lucky magazine and it had me quite curious. Here is what the hip-T website has to say about it:
• Covers Bum Cleavage •
• Lengthens Any Top •
• Hides Muffin Top •
• Creates Layers Without Bulk •
This cracks me up! I do think it is a creative idea, however I personally use layering tanks to fix this problem and get the look. But it would be nice for a shirt that was too short that you don't want to wear a tank underneath.
I am not convinced that it would do anything for a "muffin top" though - LOL!
I also think their slogan is funny/clever - "Cover Your Assets!"
So what are your thoughts on this garment? Would you buy/wear this?
Volatile Gator Platforms
It's almost spring and time to be rocking some hot new shoes! Have you gone over your wardrobe to see what you will need for the upcoming season? More than likely you could use some new sandals and flip flops. The platform sandal featured is the Gator by Volatile. These retail for $49 and click here to check them out. These sexy sandals have a 4 inch heel and are sure to get you noticed. Be sure to check out all the Volatile and Yellow Box sandals that are out for 2010. There is something for everyone at yellowboxboutique.com
Review - L'Oreal Go 360 Sensitive Skin Cleanser
Okay so before I start my review I am gonna be perfectly honest and tell you that I totally bought this product for the "scrublet" - the little scrubby thing that pops out of the bottle. I looked around everywhere for something like it sold seperately in stores but without any luck.
Even though I purchased this just for the scrublet, I do really like the cleanser. This new line comes in 4 varieties according your needs - Deep Facial Cleanser(green), Sensitive Skin(blue), Exfoliating Scrub(orange) and Deep Cream Cleanser(pink). I have sensitive skin so I chose the blue bottle.
I absolutely LOVE the Scrublet. I have been using it along with the cleanser and also with my Aveeno Ultra-Calming Moisturizing Cream Cleanser. The Scrublet does a fantastic job of exfoliating and really getting the dirt out of your pores. And I love the fact that it is portable and snaps into the bottle. The cleanser is just average for me, but it does the job. I doesn't irritate my face or dry it out too much or break me out.
Here is what L'Oreal has to say about the product:
* Smaller pores: Go 360° Clean shrinks the appearance of pore size and refinishes the skin’s surface to reveal skin with more clarity.
* Deeper cleansing: Unique formulas reach down deeper to every last pore for a deep, deep clean. Keeps pores clean day after day.
* Softer skin: Sweeps away dead skin cells for an extraordinary softening and smoothing effect
* Easy-to-use: Scrublet™ cleanses pore-by-pore with a fuss-free cleansing process.
I feel like the product and Scrublet really follow through with what they promise above. If anything the Scrublet deserves all the glory. I definitely recommend this product. If you are in the need for a new cleanser, check it out. If even for the Scrublet alone!
Gorgeous Lipstick / Lipgloss Combo
For today I wanted to post about one of my most favorite of all time lipstick and lipgloss combinations. I have been wearing this combo for quite sometime and have received more compliments that I can count. Total strangers stop me on the street and ask me at my job what I am wearing. So today I will reveal my secret to you!
First off, I have quite pigmented lips so this really helps to tone them down but still really play them up (if that makes sense!). For the lipstick I use MAC's Angel. I have used this color for the longest time. Honestly I bought it way back when I heard about Kim Kardashian using it along w/ MAC's Stripdown lipliner and NARS Turkish Delight lipgloss - which by the way is another of my most favorite lip looks. I will include a pic of Kim wearing that look so you can get the idea. This is the perfect nude pink to go with a smokey eye look.
Okay, back to todays lip look! Now that I have applied MAC Angel, I top it off with Victoria'a Secret Beauty Rush lipgloss in Cupquake. I love the scent/taste of this gloss because as you may have already guessed - it smells like cupcakes! Cupquake is the bright sparkly pink gloss in the middle of the picture above.
If you love pink lips then you are certain to love both of these looks. Wish I had a picture to share of the MAC Angel/VS Beauty Rush Cupquake combo, but take my word for it - it's gorgeous!
