So normally I wouldn't write about a product or item that I'm really not loving. But I thought today I would do something to break out of the mold.
Enter Aquolina Pink Sugar. For those of you not familar with this product, it is a perfume that can typically be found at Ulta and Sephora. I received one of those little vial samples of it from Sephora and I decided the other day that I would try it out. BIG MISTAKE!
Okay before I give you my take on it, here is what Sephora.com says:
Pink Sugar
Stylish and lively, with a distinctive personality, Pink Sugar takes you on a journey through the pleasures and flavors of childhood with a playful blend of vanilla and caramel.
Notes:
Bergamot, Sicilian Orange, Raspberry, Fig Leaves, Lily of the Valley, Licorice, Strawberry, Red Fruit, Cotton Candy, Vanilla, Caramel, Musk, Wood, Powder.
Style:
Playful. Mischievous. Romantic.
So maybe you are thinking (much like I did) that hey these notes sound pretty good, but maybe with a name like Pink Sugar it's gonna be over the top sweet? YEP!
This is a seriously strong perfume. I put a tiny dab behind my ears and a tiny dab at my elbows (these are my pulse points of choice when wearing perfume). Thank goodness I also didn't put a dab on my cleavage because that usually happens too. Let me just tell you - I applied this in the evening before going out (BIG mistake) and I could still smell it when I woke up the next morning. Seriously!
I will say this - My husbands exact words on this perfume - "It smells like a cheap stripper."
And he is SO very right. It does indeed. I was very bummed out because I was looking forward to wearing this fragrance. And you know maybe it smells awesome on other people and it didn't like me. I don't know. But it didn't change with my body chemistry. It smelled the exact same on me as it did in the bottle. I guess I wasn't expecting it to be so powerful. WHEW!
So I wanna know - do you actually love Aquolina Pink Sugar? It does have a nice following which was why I kinda wanted to try it. But no, never again. I'm not gonna say it's the worst perfume of all time because it's not, but I don't wanna smell it or use it past this one time.
Okay rant over. Regular Tropical Mind posting will begin tomorrow!
