Dark Circles and How to Get Rid of Them

Dark circles under the eyes appear due to various reasons such as lack of sleep, faulty reading habits, eye strain, poor food intake, too much of TV watching, anemia etc. The bags that appear are due to fat or fluid retention.

If the cause of the problem is known it can be easily treated. However, there is no magic formula to treat the dark circles overnight. The first thing to do is to find a clever way to camouflage them. A good cover -up is the best option. Choose a cover-up with a yellow base to thwart the blue tones in your skin. Never go for ones that are too white as you will end up having the opposite effect. Instead of dark circles, you will have vivid white circles below your eyes.

The skin around the eyes is very delicate and the harmful rays of the sun can cause more damage. In the mornings make use of a sunscreen with SPF 30 around the eyes even when you are indoors. Overnight face and under eye creams with vitamin K and retinol is very effective to treat dark circles.

For 10 minutes everyday, keep chilled cucumber slices on your eyes. It gives great relief to tired eyes. A next alternative is to use tea -bags, but it helps only if the process is done on daily basis. Honey mixed with lemon juice is a natural lightener as well. Also try thin raw potato slices - they lighten dark circles.

Add more vitamins to your daily diet and drink at least ten glasses of water a day. Finally assure you get at least seven to nine hours of sleep a night.
